Project Info
Saved from the wrecking ball in the mid-1970’s by a group of committed and dedicated citizens, the Lorain Palace Civic Center now is listed on the registry of Historic American Places. The theater, when built in 1928, contained the first talking picture device in Ohio and was the largest one-floor theater in the state. Its Italian Renaissance ceilings and walls, crystal chandelier, and Wurilitzer organ spotlighted the theater design whose stage showcased vaudeville and movies. The remodeling and restoration continues thanks in large part to generosity of hundreds of people who have come to appreciate the importance of this structure as a community landmark.
